France – Italy can be considered as the re-play of the last World Cup final. The world champions and the runners up meet in a totally different situation this time. Both of the teams are sitting at the bottom of Group C while the outsiders are in the first two positions so far.
They also played in the same qualifying group which means the players should know each other very well. Each of the teams need to win providing the fact that Romania will loose against Holland in order to qualify for QF’s.
The italians seems to be slightly better, slightly more active and more creative than the french that’s why I think Italy should win this one. I will also consider a draw between the two for the sake of placing a safe bet.
Our tip for France – Italy is x2

Holland is already qualified for quarterfinals while Romania needs to win or to draw (depending on the other match result) in order to go through. Interesting is that Romania can also loose at no more than two goals difference providing that France and Italy will draw 0-0.
Netherlands and Romania were in the same qualifying group where Romania managed to get a goaless draw in Rotterdam and to win 1-0 at home so Romania finished top of the group while Holland finished second.
Other thing to mention is that Netherlands will probably rest a few of their main players trying to keep them away from yellow cards and potential injuries. I expect a great football game and probably Romania will win by a small margin. Also a draw might be possible, less probable but still there…
Our tip for Netherlands – Romania is x2

While the croats are already qualified, Poland has some very slim chances to go through is they win by a bigger margin to overtake Austria’s superior goal difference, providing the fact the austrians will also beat the germans.
I suspect that Croatia will rest some of their key players for the quarterfinal against Turkey so anything it might be possible. Poland will definately force the win and will keep on attacking from the begining up to the end of the match as this is their only chance to qualify.
In a perfect world with both of the teams using their best squads I wouldn’t hesitate to go for Croatia to win, but as I’ve said the things will be a bit different.
Our tip for Poland – Croatia is 1x ( I would go for 1 but still not 100% sure as the croats are very impredictable – remeber the match against England at Wembley)

Austria meet Germany in a decisive match for quarterfinals. The germans need to win in order to cumulate 6 points while Austria is still dreaming. If they beat Germany and Croatia will win or draw against Poland then Austria goes through.
Frankly speaking if the referees won’t help Austria as they did with the penalty against Poland, I can’t see them having any chances with the german football machine. I’ll still go for Germany to win, hoping that’s going to be a “clean” match.
Our tip for Austria – Germany is 2

Both Turkey and Czech Republic lost against Portugal and won against Switzerland. That means 3 points for each of them so far and an eventual victory in this match will send the winners straight to the quarterfinals.
Even if Czech Republic looks better on paper I have enjoyed Turkey’s football a bit more. They seems to be the type of football warriors capable to win the match so I’ll place my bet on them and / or eventually a draw.
Czech Republic struggled somehow against Switzerland and had no chance with Portugal while Turkey didn’t played bad in both of their matches even if they lost one.
Our tip for Turkey – Czech Republic is 1x

The co-hosts Switzerland and Portugal will meet in a match which smells like friendly more than an official Euro match. Switzerland are out of competition and this is their last euro game while Portugal is already qualified for quarterfinals.
Switzerland will probably try to play some beautiful football in front of their own crowd, a sort of “thanks for supporting us”.
I don’t think that Portugal will use their full squad, prefering to rest some of the key players while offering a chance to play to those that played a little or they didn’t played at all this championship. The result should be a sort of nice and “friendly” game which will probably end in a draw.
Our tip for Switzerland – Portugal is x

The 2004 Euro winners will meet Russia in a match where both of the teams would need 3 points if they are serious about going through.
Greece had a pretty disappointing match against Sweden and they didn’t show much quality in their game while Russia were crushed by a creative spanish team.
Our tip for Greece vs Russia is x2

Sweden and Spain will meet in the third match of Group D. Both teams come after pretty clear victories against Russia and Greece and if any of them will win this match they will be qualified for quarterfinals.
Sweden seems to be a strong team, both in atack and defense and provided a fine display against the 2004 euro champions.
Spain is one of the most entertaining teams so far and the clear victory against Russia wasn’t an accident. Good defenders, creative midfielders and excellent strikers which is a great combination, isn’t it? If they will carry on playing they way they did in the first match I see them at least in the semifinals. However the match against Sweden will be pretty close with both of the teams trying to get the qualification.
Our tip for Sweden – Spain is x2

Netherlands comes after a historical victory against Italy and they proved to be one of the most entertaining teams at Euro. The impressive display in the previous match should only give them a fantastic moral boost for the coming matches.
France never had any chance against a very well organized romanian team and they seemed to be happy with a goaless draw. The trouble is that from now on they will need at least a victory so they will probably do their best against Holland. If Henry will be fit enough to play that should be a great plus in their ofensive.
Our tip for Netherlands – France is 1x

In the third match of Group C, Italy will play Romania. The world champions are coming after a painful defeat against the dutch and sit at the bottom of the group so far with 0 points. If they will loose this match then the qualifying chances are next to zero – that’s why I think the italians will try to give their best on the pitch.
On the other hand Romania had a tough match against France and to be honest I was quite impressed with their defence. Even if they didn’t show much in attack let’s not forget they scored quite a lot of goals in their qualifying campaign so I thinl the defensive tactics against France didn’t get them the chance to shine in atack.
While Italy really needs to win, Romania will be probably happy with a draw – keeping their dream alive. That’s why I believe this is going to be a 1,x,2 match. Just think the italians will be forced to attack and a romanian counteratack might be lethal…
Our tip for Italy – Romania is 1x but also a x2 is very much probable if the romanians can speculate the gaps in the italian defence.
