Group C Coaches

Group C

1. Netherlands

2. Italy

3. Romania

4. France

Well, well, well…this is my favourite euro group :) . The teams in “The Group of Death” won as many World Cups and Euros as probably all the other participant teams together. It is going to be exciting to watch all Group C’s matches as they can always be finals of any other tournaments.

Funny enough, France and Italy shared the same qualifying group while Holland and Romania played together in other qualifying group. Also France and Romania are in the same World Cup qualifying group for 2010.

It is almost impossible to make any predictions when you know what kind of teams are playing here. France is one of the top teams around, Holland the same, Italy the world champions while Romania is not a bad team at all.

I have noticed that many people would write off Romania from this group, that’s why I’ll take a few minutes to explain why you shouldn’t do that. This team had some nice performances in the last few years. 5-1 with Germany, 1-0 with Spain, 0-0 and 1-0 with Holland, 2-0 with Czech Republic, 3-0 with Russia and high scores like 6-1 with Albania and last week 4-0 with Montenegro. For this reason I will keep an eye on the romanian side and I’ll make sure I won’t write them off.

France is a fantastic team and they will always be. Unfortunatelly the french side is getting older and older with any other tournament and even if the players are very experienced it is still not enough to win tournaments. See AC Milan’s example in this year’s Champions League…

Holland is one of the best team around, the individual quality of each and every player is just fantastic but for some reason van Basten never managed to blend the quality of their players together and to build a super team.

Italy … well…Italy is Italy :) They are the World Champions and the pragmatic italian football style was always useful at the final tournaments. They also have a squad packed with superstars eager to win another trophy.

Our tip for Group C is not to bet on any matches :) , well as I’ve said they will all be real finals. I think Holland has the first chance to go to QF’s and for the second place Italy and Romania seems to be somehow stronger than France.

Note: Individual match predictions will be made about one day before each match. This is just a brief review of each group and team’s chances to qualify for quarterfinals!

Thank you
