Smart Betting

I believe there are 3 main categories of people involved in sports betting and posted about this a while ago in “Betting for Fun or for Money?”  The funny guys, betting just for adrenaline, the greedy guys, betting small amounts and hoping to win a fortune and the professional guys betting smart and winning often.

I also believe that everyone needs a bit of brain, self control, experience, motivation and time spent researching in order to bet smart and become a winner rather than a looser. Every punter, betor, tipster (whatever…) lose at some point but the most important thing is to win more than lose.

The new football season already started with the CL and Europa League qualifiers and we’ll have plenty of national leagues starting next month (august) so I thought it might be helpful to share a few tips with you. Probably the most important thing I can say is to bet smart…don’t get carried away by the nice stakes, don’t place too many matches on the betslip, don’t bet more than you can afford and don’t be greedy. Spend some time analysing the teams, the leagues, the players…

If you play simple you should end up playing efficient as well. If you bet on accumulator, make sure you don’t have more than 7-8 matches on a betslip…with every extra match you add, your chances of winning get smaller. Usually 3-6 matches per betslip is recommended.

Here is my betslip from yesterday’s Europa League Qualifiers

betting slip

…as you can see I only had a few matches and I’ve done pretty well…so there is no need to bet on 15, 20, 25 matches in order to win some cash.

The system I prefer most is called “double chance” and I strongly recommend you to play this way. Double Chance is when you are allowed to pick 2 out of 3 potential outcomes for a match. Let’s say Team A plays against Team B and usually you can choose either 1 (home team wins), x (draw), or 2 (away team wins). Playing at Double Chance means that you are allowed to pick either 1x, 12, or x2. Obviously the odds are much smaller but you have from the start 66% chances of winning which is not bad at all.

Now think that there are about 300 matches (or more) in European Leagues every weekend. You will only have to pick 3 – 5 matches and play them at accumulator (double chance) in order to get a nice 1,40 – 1,50. That means for every £100 your return will be £140 – £150…pretty safe bet, nice money, huh? Don’t be greedy and don’t play more than 3-5 matches per betslip, try to keep it close to 1,50…it should be enough…

I remember I started to bet at double chance back in 2003 with only £100 and within the first year I’ve made a profit of £28,000 … now I bet £5000 – £8000 every weekend (sometimes twice a weekend – Sat and Sun separate) for a profit of around £2000 – £4000. Not bad, huh? … but it all started with only £100 so if you start small and keep on working hard you’ll eventually make at least £1000 per week within the first 1-2 years. It’s all about patience, it’s all about betting smart!

As an example my weekend betslip (this weekend) have only 4 matches at double chance accumulator. Odds are around 1.43 and I played £5000. Bear in mind that most of the bookmakers won’t let you bet so much so you will need to open different accounts at different betting sites. Play around £1k at each site…that should be ok. Well, apart from my main betslip I have other different tickets using different systems but that’s another story :)

Right…I really hope this was useful for you guys, especially that the new season just begun and hopefully this system will help you win some serious cash in the coming months.

Good Luck! :)
