Euro 2008 Austria vs Croatia Predictions Contest

euro 08

In the first match of Group B the hosts, Austria will meet Croatia in Vienna.

Austria is probably the weakest team present at Euro 2008 and not because they qualified but just because they are one of the two hosts.

Croatia is a strong team with experienced players. Let’s remember they beat England twice without many problems and won their qualifying group.

Our tip for Austria – Croatia is 2 , victory for the croats.

You may want to participate in out predictions contest with prizes of $200 by posting your prediction in the “Comments” section. For more informations about our contest, rules and tipster rankings you may want to check our previous posts.

Portugal impress winning over Turkey

Portugal scored a 2-0 win over Turkey in their first Euro 2008 match. More than that they have played excellent football giving no chances to their opponents. Turkey was not a bad side either but still a class below the euro 2004 finalists.

Portugal it is definately a team to watch and to bet on in the coming matches.

As most of our tipsters, our prediction was right and we are delighted to end the day with a 100% correct percentage.

You can also check Tipster’s Rankings for our little euro contest after the first two matches.

The Czechs won the first match

Czech Rep goal

Vaclav Sverkos gave the Czech Republic a winning start scoring in the 70th minute the only goal of the match. Switzerland played some excellent football and they probably deserved at least a draw today while the czechs can be considered lucky for the victory.

Unfortunatelly for Switzerland, their team captain, Alexander Frei, was injured and replaced at half time.

Switzerland: Benaglio; Lichtsteiner (75th Vonlanthen), Mueller, Senderos, Magnin; Behrami (83rd Derdiyok), Inler, Gelson, Barnetta; Frei (46th Yakin), Streller.

Czech Republic: Cech; Grygera, Ujfalusi, Rozehnal, Jankulovski; Polak, Galasek; Sionko (83rd Vlcek), Jarolim (87th Kovac), Plasil; Koller (57th Sverkos).

Our x2 prediction was obviously right and also some of our contest participants won their first point for the Euro Tipster competition.

Here is the second match of Day 1 ready for your predictions. Please read our contest post and rules.

Portugal – Turkey

Portugal is one of the strongest teams of the moment with so many top class players. They are also highly motivated to go all the way to the final. On the other side Turkey is a team in re-construction and the fact that they’ve finished their qualifiying group 7 points behind Greece should say a lot about the turkish strength. I don’t think Turkey will even draw against Portugal, but this is obviously my opinion. I would go for 1 in this match, also “over 1,5″ can be placed on a betting slip.

Our tip for Portugal – Turkey is 1

Euro 2008 Switzerland vs Czech Republic Predictions Contest

euro 2008

Here we go… let’s kick off our tipsting contest with the first day matches. For more informations about our contest please check the TipsterBet contest page and contest’s rules.

Switzerland – Czech Republic

Being the opening match of Euro 2008, we expect a pretty close game where Switzerland have the second chance. Czech Republic is a great side with experienced players found at some of the best club teams in Europe. I’m thinking a draw would be just fair for both teams but it is also possible that Czech Republic will win by one goal difference. I don’t think the swiss are just good enough to beat the czechs. Instead of going for x on some betting slips and for 2 on some others, I would choose the less risky option to play at double chance x2. It is quite a safe bet in my opinion and every little helps in betting :) . Also this match might be played at “under 2,5″ or even safer at “under 3,5″.

Our tip for Switzerland – Czech Republic is x2

In order to participate at our contest I will recommend to read the rules and the other details first then place your prediction on the “comments” section of this post (remember you can only place one option between 1,x,2 or correct score!).

Have fun and good luck to everyone!

We have added a poll where you can also place your prediction. Plese note that just the predictions posted in the comments section will be considered!

Euro 2008 Group D Predictions

Group D

1. Greece

2. Sweden

3. Spain

4. Russia

This group seems to be interesting to watch as all four teams have equal chances. Spain is probably favourite to qualify for quarterfinals with Greece, Sweden and Russia fighting for the second place.

The spanish team is top quality and they always had quality players but for a strange reason they didn’t managed to play finals. This Euro might be their chance as most of their top players reached a level of maturity which will obviously help their game. Greece is still a strong side and it will be a mistake to write them off while Sweden and Russia are not bad teams either. Russia have the youngest squad in the competition so that might be a minus for them due to the lack of experience of their players at this level.

Our tip is to bet on Spain and Greece to qualify for QF’s.

Note: Individual match predictions will be made about one day before each match. This is just a brief review of each group and team’s chances to qualify for quarterfinals!

Thank you

Euro 2008 Group C Predictions

Group C Coaches

Group C

1. Netherlands

2. Italy

3. Romania

4. France

Well, well, well…this is my favourite euro group :) . The teams in “The Group of Death” won as many World Cups and Euros as probably all the other participant teams together. It is going to be exciting to watch all Group C’s matches as they can always be finals of any other tournaments.

Funny enough, France and Italy shared the same qualifying group while Holland and Romania played together in other qualifying group. Also France and Romania are in the same World Cup qualifying group for 2010.

It is almost impossible to make any predictions when you know what kind of teams are playing here. France is one of the top teams around, Holland the same, Italy the world champions while Romania is not a bad team at all.

I have noticed that many people would write off Romania from this group, that’s why I’ll take a few minutes to explain why you shouldn’t do that. This team had some nice performances in the last few years. 5-1 with Germany, 1-0 with Spain, 0-0 and 1-0 with Holland, 2-0 with Czech Republic, 3-0 with Russia and high scores like 6-1 with Albania and last week 4-0 with Montenegro. For this reason I will keep an eye on the romanian side and I’ll make sure I won’t write them off.

France is a fantastic team and they will always be. Unfortunatelly the french side is getting older and older with any other tournament and even if the players are very experienced it is still not enough to win tournaments. See AC Milan’s example in this year’s Champions League…

Holland is one of the best team around, the individual quality of each and every player is just fantastic but for some reason van Basten never managed to blend the quality of their players together and to build a super team.

Italy … well…Italy is Italy :) They are the World Champions and the pragmatic italian football style was always useful at the final tournaments. They also have a squad packed with superstars eager to win another trophy.

Our tip for Group C is not to bet on any matches :) , well as I’ve said they will all be real finals. I think Holland has the first chance to go to QF’s and for the second place Italy and Romania seems to be somehow stronger than France.

Note: Individual match predictions will be made about one day before each match. This is just a brief review of each group and team’s chances to qualify for quarterfinals!

Thank you
