Euro 2008 Russia vs Spain Predictions

RussiaSpain

Russia is probably one of the most pleasant surprises at Euro 2008. The youngest squad from the whole tournament played some excellent football and at the same time very entertaining.  Spain is one of the strongest teams in Europe at the moment with a few brilliant players.

I believe that Spain has the first chance due to the fact that most of their players are very experienced, play at top teams in Europe and they can face the pressure of such a tournament. The russians are young and the lack of experience at this level might be decisive.

Our tip for Russia – Spain is 2

    NetherlandsRussia

Well, well, well…lots of surprises so far in the QS’s! I guess the bookies made a fortune from this Euro. Netherlands and Russia will play in the third quarterfinal. Another surprise? I wouldn’t be surprised :)

Netherlands is probably the best Euro team so far with so many quality players. On the other hand, Russia with a dutch coach, is the youngest squad at Euro. I never thought these young players will be able to go so far in the competition and theit lack of experience at this level might be a serious minus against the top dutch players.

Our tip for Netherlands – Russia is 1

    Netherlands - Russia

Russia and Sweden will meet in a decisive qualifying match. Both teams have 3 points each, Russia will qualify only if they win while Sweden should go through even if they draw due to better goal difference.

I expect a very good match where Russia should consider atacking as their only option. Sweden has a more mature team with experienced players so I think they will manage a draw at least.

Our tip for Russia – Sweden is x2

    Russia - Sweden

    • 1 (Russia) (9%, 1 Votes)
    • x (Draw) (9%, 1 Votes)

The 2004 Euro winners will meet Russia in a match where both of the teams would need 3 points if they are serious about going through.

Greece had a pretty disappointing match against Sweden and they didn’t show much quality in their game while Russia were crushed by a creative spanish team.

Our tip for Greece vs Russia is x2

    Greece - Russia

    • 2 (Russia) (45%, 9 Votes)
    • 1 (Greece) (35%, 7 Votes)
    • x (Draw) (20%, 4 Votes)

Spain and Russia will meet for the Group D opening match. Spain is one of the strongest teams in Europe at the moment, with so many top quality players. They did pretty well in their qualifying campaign and I think they will also do well in the Group D.

Russia was lucky, very lucky to qualify after they lost the last match against Israel. Thanks to Croatia who beat England at Wembley the russians managed to get the second place in their qualifying group. It is also the youngest team in the competition and this might be a slightly minus as the players have very little or no experience playing these sort of tournaments.

Our tip for Spain – Russia is 1, victory for Spain.

    Russia Kit

The russians were lucky, very lucky to qualify for Euro. After their dissapointing match in Israel when they’ve lost. They should thank Croatia for beating England at Wembley this way securing the second place for Russia.

They are part of Group D together with the ex euro winners Greece, Sweden and Spain. A though group for the russians but this way they will have to prove the quality of their young squad.

Here is the full russian squad for Euro:

    1 Igor Akinfeev
    2 Vasili Berezutski
    3 Renat Yanbaev
    4 Sergei Ignashevich
    5 Aleksei Berezutski
    6 Roman Adamov
    7 Dmitri Torbinskiy
    8 Denis Kolodin
    9 Ivan Saenko
    10 Andrei Arshavin
    11 Sergei Semak
    12 Vladimir Gabulov
    13 Pavel Pogrebnyak
    14 Roman Shirokov
    15 Diniyar Bilyaletdinov
    16 Vyacheslav Malafeev
    17 Konstantin Zyrianov
    18 Yuri Zhirkov
    19 Roman Pavlyuchenko
    20 Igor Semshov
    21 Dmitri Sychev
    22 Aleksandr Anyukov
    23 Vladimir Bystrov
    Coach: Guus Hiddink
